Jordan Archer could be set for the exit door at Chester FC this week

The in-demand 24-year-old striker is the subject of a formal bid from a Football League outfit, while a National League side has expressed their interest but has yet to submit a formal offer to the club.

The Chronicle understands that the Blues have accepted an offer for the striker, who played in Saturday's 7-0 home pre-season friendly defeat to Liverpool.

A number of clubs have been interested in Archer over the summer, with Southport, Salford City, Chesterfield and Boston United believed to be among them.

And an expression of interest and a potential offer was discussed between a National League side and Chester in the past few days, although a formal offer has yet to be tabled.

But a Football League side looks to be leading the race to land Archer, who signed for Chester from Stourbridge back in October and netted four goals in 19 games for the Blues, with a deal possibly concluded this week after Archer was set for talks with the interested club this afternoon (Tuesday).

Chester travel to Ramsbottom United this evening (7.45pm) for their second pre-season friendly.
