A woman sustained serious injuries in a crash on the M56 at Helsby.
Her white Kia Cee’d was in collision with a black Peugeot 308 before junction 14 westbound near Helsby at 5.01pm on Sunday, August 2.
Both cars ended up leaving the road and were ‘considerably damaged’.
The woman was flown to Aintree Hospital by North West Air Ambulance; those in the Peugeot were uninjured.
At the time of the crash her injuries were described as life changing, but not life threatening.
North West Air Ambulance initially landed in a field close to the scene and the motorway was briefly closed in both directions while the helicopter repositioned.
