Frustrated Guiseley manager Mark Bower believes his team allowed Chester FC 'out of jail' after conceding two late equalisers on Easter Monday.

The Lions trailed at half-time to Ross Hannah's strike but had the better of the second period and levelled through Emile Sinclair on 74 minutes.

Will Hatfield and Sinclair twice put them ahead in an exhilarating finish but on both occasions the lead lasted no more than a couple of minutes as Kane Richards and then Tom Shaw rescued a point for the Blues.

"With the way it happens in the end we've just completely let them out of jail," said Bower afterwards.

"We've won that game twice really and the goals we've given away are just balls lobbed in our box and not defended properly.

"The lads said in the dressing room that on the second one the lad clearly handballs it and the referee's missed it but the game in many ways epitomises our season.

"We've scored some great goals and then we've given the poxiest goals away. The last two were shocking goals to give away at the stage of the game when you've got so many bodies back there to defend it.

"It's hard to put it into words. It was a game that really we've done enough to win.

"We played in really tough conditions and against the wind in the first-half it was difficult and you could see Drenchy (Steven Drench) was struggling to get it out of his own own half and that helped them be on the front foot and put us under pressure at times but having said that we probably the best couple of chances in the first-half.

"If we could have got in front it could have been a completely different game because in the second-half once we had the wind behind us I thought we were really on the front foot, we were pressing them and had chances and got the three goals and it should have been enough to win the game and unfortunately it wasn't."

The draw keeps both clubs in the relegation picture but Bower, whose side are two points below the Blues, retains belief the Lions can get out of trouble.

"It's a point in the end it breaks the couple of losses that we've had," he said.

"It's a performance that can give the players confidence and heart and a bit of belief.

"Scoring three goals and some really good goals as well and being close to having a couple of others shows we can create chances and score goals so we've got take the positives and the belief and a lot of good things we've done into the next game at Eastleigh on Saturday.

"Most of the teams down the bottom have not won apart from Boreham Wood so it's tough and the teams down there are down there for a reason because they lose more games than they win.

"We just need that couple of wins that would make such a big difference and get us away from the bottom four."
