Ross Hannah's summer decision to sign for Chester FC has given him a 'new lease of life', according to the striker.

Although he took a while to find his feet, the 29-year-old has been in outstanding form of late, scoring 12 times in his last 11 games.

Considering this season has been something of a disappointment for the Blues, his return of 16 goals from 26 appearances in all competitions is hugely impressive.

Hannah, who had no shortage of suitors after leaving Grimsby Town at the end of the 2014-15 campaign, insists he was always the confident the move to Chester would work out.

But the Sheffield-born forward concedes he would prefer his scoring spree to have coincided with better results.

Hannah said: "It was a frustrating season last season and I knew from the first phone call with the gaffer that this would be the right move.

"I couldn't wait to come here and get going and it's felt like a new lease of life and I'm throughly enjoying my time and scoring goals is the main reason why so long may that continue.

"It was a slow start to the season but I've managed to find the net quite frequently recently but it's frustrating that it's not leading to a lot of three points, which obviously is the main thing.

"I've come here from the start believeing I will score goals and I'm doing that. Like I say, it's frustrating that's it not led to more wins that we've had.

"We've got to keep going and I want to keep scoring and I'm sure things will turn around and we'll start picking up three points more regularly."

Hannah's prolific form has drawn interest from rival clubs with National League leaders Cheltenham Town and Lincoln City rumoured to have watched him.

He arrived on a 12-month deal, which expires at the end of the season, and although it's too soon for serious discussions to have taken place, Hannah has intimated he would like to remain with Chester.

"There's been brief talks from the gaffer but we're in January now and I want to keep doing what I'm doing and scoring goals for Chester and hopefully finishing as high as we can," he said.

"But when that time comes I'm happy to negotiate a new contract if that's right for me and the club."
