A taxi office worker was punched in the head during an attempted robbery in Ellesmere Port .

The victim fought off two attackers who ordered he hand over cash, but they were forced to run off empty handed.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the altercation at Circle Cabs in Princes Road in the early hours of March 5.

The staff member was working at the cab office when someone knocked at the back door at about 1.15am.

He opened the door, but was punched in the head by one of two men who demanded money.

The victim, who was uninjured, fought them both off and the failed robbers fled down an alleyway parallel to Whitby Road that leads out on to Victoria Road.

Descriptions

Both attackers are described as white and aged from 20 to 25 years old.

The first is 5ft 10 to 5ft 11ins tall, of slim build with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark coloured North Face waist length waterproof zip jacket.

The second man is a similar height, but of stocky build. He was wearing dark clothing.

DS Rob Grantham said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious around this time in the area or has any information to contact police to help us progress with our enquiries.”
