Police are appealing for information following the armed robbery of a convenience store in Ellesmere Port.

A shop assistant at Martin's Newsagents on Hope Farm Precinct was subjected to a terrifying experience when an unknown man entered the store, approached the counter and demanded the till be opened, just after 7pm on Thursday, January 15.

As the shop assistant looked at the offender, he then produced a black handgun.

After the till was opened, the offender leaned over the counter and put all of the money from the till into a green Asda Bag For Life. The man then left the store, heading in the direction of the Co-Op store, riding a dark mountain bike with white forks.

He is described as a white man, approximately 5ft 8 inches tall and of slim build. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black baseball cap, with a white scarf over his face, a black North Face jacket and a glove on his right hand.

Investigating officer DS Rob Grantham said: “I urge anyone who believes that they have any information that could assist with this investigation to contact the team here at Ellesmere Port so that we can bring this offender to justice.”
