The future of play provision in the Chester West and Chester Council area is being brought under the spotlight - and you can help shape that future.

The council has launched a public consultation to seek views on a draft play strategy for the borough.

The draft strategy has been developed in close collaboration between the council and local partners such as town and parish councils, voluntary sector organisations, community groups and housing associations.

The draft play strategy consists of: a borough-wide strategy that provides guidance on policy and best practice in outdoor public play provision; four locality play improvement rrameworks (Chester, Ellesmere Port, Northwich/Winsford and Rural) to provide detailed analysis of play spaces and outdoor youth facilities at the locality level.

The council’s Cabinet member for communities and wellbeing, Cllr Louise Gittins, said: “Cheshire West and Chester Council is committed to helping our communities thrive and outdoor play facilities are an important part of our plans.

“Play is essential because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social and emotional well-being of children and young people. I hope as many people as possible get involved in this consultation and give us their views.”
