Cheshire West and Chester Council’s libraries will be hosting a variety of events between June 13 and 18 as part of the nationwide Festival of Learning.

The Festival of Learning (previously Adult Learners’ Week) is a national celebration of lifelong learning. Whether you already love to learn, would like to have a go and learn something new or are involved in helping others learn, there is something for everyone at the Festival of Learning.

Residents are invited to a whole host of events to give them the opportunity to try something new from exploring Shakespeare or bike maintenance to Chinese calligraphy, colouring, football or first aid, as well as access to e-books and other online services. The events will use the hashtag #LoveToLearn.

Chester, Ellesmere Port, Neston, Northwich and Winsford Libraries will also be hosting special activities linked to the Society of Chief Librarians Celebrating Shakespeare Campaign with acclaimed performance poet Dominic Berry.

Cllr Louise Gittins, Cabinet member for wellbeing and community, said: “Our Try Something New in Libraries events will help people learn and discover the wide range of opportunities there are to gain new skills, expand their abilities and transform their lives. I hope that people take advantage of these exciting events within our libraries and recognise that you’re never too old to learn.”
