The 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death falls this weekend and, four centuries on, the Bard of Stratford remains our most famous playwright.
Over his career, Shakespeare – who started out as an actor – is thought to have penned a total of 38 plays and 154 sonnets.
And many of the lines in those works have become part of our everyday language without most of us realising – love is blind, mum’s the word, foul play, dead as a doornail and up in arms to name just a few.
But how much do you actually know about the man and his works which have become a fixture on stage and screen?
And what about the actors who portray his characters?
Why not take our fun Shakespeare quiz and find out?
