Chester Performs has announced a new partnership with Chester Voluntary Action to provide opportunities for charitable groups and voluntary organisations to experience Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre, for free.
The partnership has been developed to provide complimentary tickets to community organisations working with hard to reach individuals and communities across Chester.
Chester Performs approached Chester VA to help individuals who would not normally have the opportunity to attend a production.
The partnership allocates a number of tickets for productions of Romeo and Juliet, Wind in the Willows and Merry Wives of Windsor at Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre which is running until August 23.
Alex Clifton, artistic director of Chester Performs, said: “We understand there are barriers to attending theatre for many individuals and groups. We hope this creates the possibility for those who wouldn’t normally attend to enjoy one of the shows.”
Dee Gunning of Chester VA said: “This is a fantastic opportunity from Chester Performs. Many of our members work directly with volunteers and people in the community who face difficulties in a variety of ways, such as isolation, disability, homelessness and discrimination. Many of these people wouldn’t otherwise have the chance to experience these productions.”
