With the festive season just around the corner, rehearsals are in full swing at a Chester theatre as preparations continue to bring Chester’s very own family friendly pantomime to the stage.
Chester and Wrexham based theatre company Tip Top Productions are preparing to stage what has become a firm favourite in the city’s calendar of Christmas events.
This year’s offering, once again written by Tip Top’s chair and founder Peter Swingler OBE, is Jack and The Beanstalk starring North Wales based singer Joe Woolford who is best known as a contestant on the 2015 series of The Voice on BBC 1 where he was mentored by Rita Ora.
Earlier this year Joe represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest as one half of the duo Jake and Joe.
Joe recently met up with some of his fellow cast members while Tip Top were staging their highly acclaimed production of Grease at Theatr Clwyd in Mold and was delighted to sit in on final rehearsals for the show.
Joining Joe on stage and returning to lead the Jack and the Beanstalk company will be Kevin Dewsbury who thrilled the crowds last year as Sarah the Cook. Comedian Kevin has just returned from Edinburgh having enjoyed a successful run of his hit show Kev’s Komedy Kitchen at the Festival Fringe.
Joining Kevin will be Jade Pritchard as Jill, Dan Ellis as Silly Willy and Julie Blagrove as Fairy Courgette.
Joining the company for the first time is Kieron Attwood as Fleshcreep.
Kieron’s theatre credits include pantomime baddy in numerous locations around the UK.
Director of the show Steve Davies said: “We are delighted to be staging our traditional panto at our home in Chester once again this year, we have a real treat in store for young and old alike with plenty to boo, hiss and cheer at!
“We’re delighted to have Joe playing the title role, we know that he will be such a hit here in Chester. It’s great that Kevin, Jade, Julie and Dan are back with us and we’re looking foward to working with Kieron for the first time. Christmas is such a magical time and we hope Jack and the Beanstalk will make Christmas in Chester that extra bit special.”
Jack and The Beanstalk runs at The Forum Studio Theatre in Chester from December 9 until January 6.
