Celebrated singer-songwriter Gordon Haskell has announced he will be coming to Chester to play Alexander’s on Thursday, December 1.
After 35 years of dedication to developing his craft of the singer-songwriter, Haskell finally broke through in 2001 with his song How Wonderful You Are reaching No 2 in the UK chart.
In 2002 his albums Harry’s Bar and Shadows on the Wall reached No 2 and No 44 in the UK chart and top 20 in Germany, France, Poland, Finland and the Netherlands. Both albums reached Gold status with the single selling 400,000+.
Since then he has continued to perform and record mostly in Europe travelling from his home in Greece.
At his gig in early December, Haskell will be accompanied by support from John O’Connell. The former Groundpig singer songwriter has featured four times on Folkscene (BBC Radio Merseyside), finished second in two international songwriting competitions, toured with Stephen Bishop, had Out on the Vine selected as the theme music to the British film A Wedding Most Strange and twice performed at the International Guitar Festival of GB.
There are many different guises to his repertoire, including his Simply Dylan project which enjoyed great reviews, but it is his own original songs mixed with timeless guitar classics that reflect his true talent.
