The elite of Chester’s pubs and eateries were recognised at the 2016 Chester Beer Awards.

Cellar Bar on City Road was crowned the city’s best pub at the special ceremony held at Kash Tap Rooms in Brook Street, with many other of the city’s finest establishments given a nod.

The Lord Mayor, Cllr Hugo Deynem and Lady Mayoress Deb joined dozens of representatives from Chester’s local pubs and eating places to officially kick off proceedings.

The event was organised by Chester Beer Blog creators Kat and Tom Knox, where nominees were chosen by the public via social media.

Chester Beer and Wine in Hoole were named best beer shop, Deva Craft Beer were best local brewery and the best place for pub grub in the city is Bear and Billet on Lower Bridge Street.

'Spank' takes top prize

The best local beer was named as The Legendary Spank from the Blueball Brewery at Kash, while the best newcomer was Commonhall Social. Aki from Cellar Bar was crowned Chester’s best bartender.

A special category for Outstanding Achievement in contribution to the local beer culture and related shenanigans’ was also awarded to Kash Tap Rooms.
