West Park St Helens 31Chester 26

CHESTER blew a 26-7 half-time lead on Saturday as West Park pulled off an Easter miracle.

The hosts held what seemed to be an unassailable lead at the break thanks to tries from Sean Green, Will Bown, a superb solo effort from Marcus Lyon and one from Tom Chappell. Rhys Hayes kicked three of his four conversion attempts.

But Chester capitulated in the second half, allowing West Park – battling relegation in National Three North – to pull off an unlikely comeback.

Tim Doig’s men will be looking to strengthen their grip on fourth spot when they close their campaign at Stockport this Saturday (3pm).
