WADE Deacon High School's Abbie Jenkins overcame illness to take overall third place at the Lancashire County Swimming Championships.
The 11-year-old Widnes girl, who swims for Liverpool Penguins and City of Liverpool, was pipped for second spot by a couple of points.
This was despite her not having trained in the three weeks leading up to the event at Manchester Aquatic Centre because of a virus.
Competing in seven events, Abbie took silvers for 50m freestyle plus the 100m and 200m backstroke plus three fourth places and a fifth.
In December, Abbie swept all before her in the Merseyside Tadpole League by winning all six of her regional races to claim the overall U11s girls title.
She has since claimed victories or medal places in other events.
