SPEEDWAY: STOKE riders Wayne Broadhurst, Luke Priest and Jack Hargreaves acquitted themselves well at the indoor ice meeting at Telford on Sunday.

Priest and Hargreaves gave good accounts of themselves whilst Broadhurst, in his first appearance on the ice in three years, won the Best Pairs event with Tony Atkin and also scored nine points in the big open meeting - the British Open Championship.

'I couldn't have asked for more and I'm really pleased with the outcome,' said Broadhurst. 'I didn't feel that quick, but I was getting out of the starts and that gave me half a chance.

'I thought Tony and I rode fairly well as a unit. We had a few iffy moments and maybe a bit of good fortune. But we were in the right place to take advantage of it all and it was terrific to win.'

Promoter Dave Tattum is weighing up his options before starting on the Stoke Spitfires team planning.

He said: 'There are a few things mulling over in my mind and once I am more clear I will start announcing names.'

Stoke will hold a 'Meet the Riders' night at Loomer Road stadium on Saturday starting around 7.30pm.
