A MEMBER of Chester Triathlon Club has topped the rankings in this year’s UK Ultra-Running Championships.
Duncan Harris won four ultra races – long distance endurance events across tough terrain – in 2012.
At the 34-mile Wuthering Hike in March, which incorporates 4,400ft of ascent, Harris triumphed in four hours, 18 minutes and 30 seconds.
In May, he came joint first and set a new course record of 4:16.07 at the 35-mile Northants Ultra Shires & Spires race.
He then added wins in the High Peak 40-mile race in September and the Round Rotherham 50-mile race in October.
Harris now holds the course record for three of the four races, plus the record of 4:10 for the 33-mile Sandstone Trail challenge, 23 minutes faster than the previous best.
