HOCKEY: WITH only one of the men's teams able to claim victory, it was Bebington Ladies who again took centre stage on Saturday.
A 4-2 win over Knutsford ensured Bebington remain the only unbeaten team in their division at the season's halfway point.
Bebington started slowly and fell behind on five minutes before waking up with Sharon Steadman's equaliser.
Fiona Jones put Bebington ahead but Knutsford's keeper continued to keep the score down.
After the break, Charlotte Dodd added a third from Arty Senior's right-wing pass and Steadman hit a fourth before heading off to hospital injured and while she was away, Knutsford pulled one back.
The men's first team drew 3-3 at Formby after leading 2-0 at half-time through Richie Little and Glen Costain as well as having two other efforts ruled out.
Formby hit back 10 minutes after the break but despite John McMullen restoring the visitors' two-goal cushion, the hosts responded strongly to earn a share of the spoils as Bebington had another goal 'given' then disallowed.
The second team, who had gone ahead through Lee Dixon, went down 3-1 at West Derby firsts as they conceded with one minute to go.
Bebington thirds were the only winners among the men's sides as they edged out Knutsford 2nds 3-2 thanks to goals from Pete Newton, Simon Reed and Kris Bark. The fourth and fifth teams suffered defeats as they went down respectively to Bowdon (1-0) and Llandudno firsts (4-0).
