THE top four teams met each other as the race for the Chester and District League title reached a crunch week.

In a top-of-the-table showdown, leaders Q Bar were held to a draw by St Saviour’s B.

Neal Jones, Simon Moulton and Lee Gorton were the Q Bar winners, but Saints earned a share of the spoils thanks to Kevin Maxwell, Scott Wilkie and Steve Holmes, who beat Joey Wynne on the black.

In the day’s other top-four clash, Christleton B enjoyed a 4-2 win over Conservative A.

It was 1-1 after two close opening frames. Wayne Amey then potted a 54 break to put Christleton 2-1 up, only for Steve Williams to level.

But Stuart Hardman and Mike Rigby stepped up to win it for Christleton.

Ellesmere Port Conservatives won 6-0 at United Services, while Wings were held to a 3-3 draw at home to Riley’s. Chester Bus notched up a third successive win, beating Christleton A 4-2.

In Olympic Trophies Division Two, Conservative C lost 4-2 to Liberal and St Saviour’s A beat basement boys United Services B 5-1.

St Saviour’s B saw off Q Bar A on points after finishing level on frames in the CD McAllister Trophy.

They claimed a memorable victory by a 54-point margin.
