ATHLETICS: WEST Cheshire Athletic Club is celebrating an historic clean-sweep.
The Port-based club enjoyed six victories in a North West Sportshall League match for the first time in its seven-year history.
The success began with the U15 boys' squad scoring 124 points on the way to victory thanks to Matthew White, Amir Walwyn, Michael Lyness, Alan Littler, and Stephen White.
And the U15 girls' sprint relay county championship gold-winning quartet of Daisy Flynn-Piercey, Shona Valentine, Emily Done, and Sian Kelman produced a superb victory against Sale in their concluding appearances, while the B string quartet of Laura Stott, Kerry Riley, Stephanie Owens, and Becky Grimes also clinched success.
The U11 boys scored a comfortable victory against nearest rivals Sale Harriers, with Sam Pierre-Louis, Joseph O'Riordan, Richard Drummond, Oliver Ashworth, Jonah Leake, Aaron Walwyn, Matthew Williams, Sam Pickering, Jordan Rodgers, Elliot Rollins, and Charlie Thomas combining to claim success.
The U13 boys' squad continued the winning habit with Aidan Stoakley, Tom Booth, Sam Rimmer, Tom Littler, Jack Bancroft, and Jacques Humphreys producing a 10-point winning margin over nearest rivals Southport Waterloo.
Alice Jennings won her two-lap and four-lap races and added a victory in the triple jump in the U11 girls' competition. She was joined by Jenni Potter, Alice McMahon,
Francesca Wright, Emma Johnson, Rebecca Smith, Heidi Williams, Joanne Hope, Rosie Bancroft, Lucy Earl, Hannah Forrester-Roberts, Mhairi Stewart, Lucy Hickmott, and Karry Pritchard.
Potter, McMahon, Wright and Jennings joined forces in the sprint relay to celebrate victory.
Abbie Kirk carved out two impressive successes from the U13 girls' two-lap and six-lap events, with Danielle Erskine, Danielle Bentley, Sam Galley, Abbie Noble, Leah Ferrie, Gemma Mayled, Hannah Pierre-Louis, Sandra Shack-leton, and Jennifer Drummond also contributing.
Fixtures this weekend include an Open Junior Cross Country Races at the Stanney Track, on Saturday, (10am start first race). Entry is 50p payable on the day. Races will cater for U9s, U11s, U13s, and U15s.
