GYMNASTICS: FOUR Sandbach gymnasts have enjoyed a memorable start to their competitive careers.
Amy Taylor, Nicole Watson, Carrie Smith and Hannah McPride, all eight, made their debuts in a compulsory level-four regional competition at Southport.
The quartet performed admirably in their first public events, with Amy and Nicole qualifying for the national finals in Birmingham on May 1.
Coach Tracy Cooper said: 'The girls have all been training with us for 12 months to two years and they can all be very pleased with themselves.
'The first competition is always the first stepping stone to other things and the girls did well.' Nicole finished fifth overall to qualify for the North West team at the national finals and Amy went through as an individual.
Carrie won silver on the beam but just missed out on a place at the nationals.
