ROWING: GROSVENOR'S trophy collection was boosted after members brought home more than 30 tankards from Ironbridge Regatta on the Severn.
The first major success for the novice women's squad was achieved in the coxed fours event when the crew of Laura James, Johanna Meingassner, Kim Harrison and Sara Coey, coxed by Calen Stein Lear, proved the fastest of 15 crews and beat Warwick with ease in the final.
The win was deserved as the four endured several rounds of rowing, including a re-row after a dead heat with Llandaff in the earlier stages.
The same four maintained their winning form on Sunday in the higher-level senior fours, beating Gloucester in the final.
A more experienced four of Andrea Clarke, Tamara Simmons, Alison Evans and Alex Newton added to Grosvenor's trophy cabinet by winning the senior three event.
The men also had a number of wins. From the intermediates, a senior four eight of Dave Hill, Robin Lilley, Andy Gosmore, Eoin Ryan, Mike Potter, Karl Shone, Jac Wardle and Eoin Canty (coxed by Gemma Welsh) beat the City of Oxford in the final on Sunday.
Shone, Gosmore, Lilley and Hill also competed as a four and won the senior event.
Jeremy Lush, Ad Gideonse, John McMahon and Paul Larby were true to form, beating Ross in the final of the veteran C class event. This four teamed up with other club members to race as an eight but were beaten by eventual winners Gloucester RC Grosvenor RC welcomes new members.
