ELLESMERE Port Running Club took a trip to Morecambe to take part in the Trimpell 20.
Two of the club’s finest runners were in action.
Mathew Whitfield and Dave Nalder both produced solid performances and showed they are making fine progress towards their respective marathon targets. First home for the club, and rapidly returning to form, was Whitfield in a provisional time of two hours, 17 minutes and 25 seconds. Nalder completed the course in 2:26.01.
The winner was Vegan Runners member James Meldrum in 1:52.15, while the women’s race was won by Louise Gardner from Lancaster and Morecambe RC in 2:03.46.
Also showing promise for EPRC was Chris Marshall, who took part in the Farndon 10k, finishing in 26th place and as the eighth M40 with a time of 38:39. Marshall is still not in his best shape and could be a runner to keep a close eye on in the coming months as he continues to reach full fitness.
The race was won by Clive West of Buckley Running Club with a time of 33:47, with Wrexham AC member Caroline Harney (38:15) taking the women’s honours.
