Three members of Ellesmere Port Running Club have taken part in one of Europe’s toughest endurance challenges.

The hardy trio of Graham Earlam, Jon Cole and Nicola Smith took on the 39th Tyn Lon Volvo International Snowdon race, a 10-mile test which involves running from the edge of Lake Padarn in the village of Llanberis to the highest summit in Wales and England and back down.

First home for the club was Earlam, in a time of one hour and 36 minutes for third in his category.

Next home for EPRC was Jon Cole, in a time of 2:01.

He was followed by Smith, the only lady running for the club, in a time of 2:12 and eighth in her category.

Closer to home on Sunday, EPRC’s women’s captain Sharon Plested took part in her second triathlon.

The Deva Divas Triathlon in Chester, now in its fourth year, starts with a 750m swim in the River Dee.

Once completed, the competitors haul themselves out of the water to cycle 25km.

Finally, on completion of the bike ride, competitors set off on a 5km run. Sharon completed the race in 1:39, coming home in 83rd place.
