TATTENHALL Runners hosted their ever-popular nine-mile multi-terrain challenge on Friday.

A total of 49 teams of three took part in the Tough Team Race, which features a steep climb up an old mine railway track.

The winning team of Rob Grantham, Alex Hall and Peter Brook from Chester Tri Club finished in 56 minutes and 55 seconds.

Kenny Begley, James Atkinson and Lisa Grantham, also from Chester Tri, were the winners in the mixed team category in 64:35.

The first ladies team, consisting of Joanna Marsdon, Kirsty Seddon and Sara Atkinson of Tattenhall Runners, posted a time of 70:09.

Other Tattenhall Runners competing included Mark Smith and Tim Charmley, who ran with Graeme Blair of Ellesmere Port Running Club, and finished 14th in 70:47, and the mixed team of Alli Grundy, Martin Hilton and Amanda Davies, 19th in 75:53.

Tattenhall’s fell-running rookie Laura Ashford took part in the tough 6km Hotfoot Up Moel Famau race, finishing in an hour and 10 minutes, six minutes behind long-distance specialist Sharon Basford. Peter Taylor finished in fifth in a time of 39 minutes.
