TATTENHALL Runners’ ladies have been crowned this season’s Wirral Multi-Terrain Series champions.
Lying joint second with Wallasey and four points behind Wirral after three races, Tattenhall knew they had to be at their best in the final round at Arrowe Park, Birkenhead, to have a chance of taking the title.
Fifth lady home, crowning a superb series was Jo Marsden, closely followed in sixth and the fastest veteran 40 Sara Atkinson.
Liz Crawshaw was supposed to be taking it easy in advance of the Berlin Marathon on Sunday but still powered home in 11th with Amanda Davies, having done the Anglesey Marathon two days earlier, coming home in 17th.
Kath Stott finished 26th lady, with Cath Jones putting in another sound run coming home in 43rd.
Helen Lester was 51st and Sharon Basford rounded off a fabulous Tattenhall performance by finishing as 60th lady.
Ten different ladies took part in the four-race series for Tattenhall.
Individual prizes for the series went to Marsden (second lady overall and second U30 lady) and Atkinson, who won first in the over 40 ladies category.
For the men, Ian Simpson was first home for Tattenhall in 42nd.
Not far behind the fast improving Graham Innes capped a fine series of races with a good performance.
