Royal Chester Rowing Club had a weekend of success at the Stourport Regatta in Worcestershire where both masters and junior rowers brought home tankards.
Strong competition was encountered on the 1,100m course on the River Severn, with crews being beaten in hard fought finals. However, Octavia Shore and Megan Griffiths Tucker won their first trophies in the women’s junior 13 double sculls.
Jake Freer-Smith took the J17 single sculls win and also rowed in the triumphant J18 quad scull with Jess Twigg, Oliver Smith and visiting French student Henri Charrin. With a slight change of crew, Chelsi Hanlon taking over from Twigg, the quad won again in Sunday’s J18 quad race.
Winners of the Women’s J15 coxed quad were Lucy Perkins, Ellie Jones, Emmelia Allen, Molly Paton and cox Sarah Fearnall. The mixed masters coxed four, with club captain Jane Sweeney at bow, also collected winning tankards.
