A MYSTERY electrical problem threw a spanner into Jenny Tinmouth’s season opener at Brands Hatch.
The fastest woman in British motorcycle racing found herself losing power as she tried to secure her grid position for the British 600cc Supersport Cup race.
But the ingenuity of Jenny and her team from the Two Wheel Workshop on Westminster Industrial Park got it going.
“We didn’t know what the problem was so we just changed some electrical parts between sessions to see if things improved,” said Jenny.
“When the race came I was tentative at first but it soon felt good and I got into it.”
It wasn’t a great start to a big season for Jenny, but she managed to set a personal best lap-time, 49.012 sec.
In between Brands Hatch and the May Bank Holiday meeting at Oulton Park, Jenny will be acclimatising herself with her new Honda Fireblade, the bike which she will enter her first ever Isle of Man TT on later this year.
“It is very different to my race bike but it’s a similar size so it shouldn’t be too difficult to get to grips with,” she said.
