SNOOKER: CONSERVATIVE A look as if they are going to retain the Chester and District League's Liberal Club Division title.
With one game to go, they are now one point ahead of St Saviour's after defeating United Services A 4-2. They started like a team in a hurry, winning the first three frames through Dave Smith, Eddie Jenkins and Steve Williams.
Gerry Byewater got the better of Mike Fisher in a very close game and Roy Baker pulled it back to 3-2 when he got the better of Andy Short. Neal Jones made it 17 wins out of 17 this season to give Cons their victory.
St Saviour's were expected to get the better of mid-table Christleton, but Christleton had other ideas. Chris Bennion (Christleton) took the first frame against Mike Davies, but Robbie Hayes levelled with his win over Danny Billingham.
Barry Charker had a good win over Alan Lea and Wayne Amey put Saviour's 3-1 up with his defeat of Chris Dixon, which included a 56 break.
Mark Cooke beat Peter Sheppard comfortably and Phil Challoner beat John Elliott to give Christleton a deserved draw and dent Saviour's title aspirations.
United Services C made it five games without defeat when they beat Services B 4-2.
Martin Walsh gave the C team the lead with a close win over Andy Rose, Tony McKevitt had a 51 break in his win over Kevin Maxwell and Paul Lewis put them three up with his win over Jason Taylor.
The consistent Craig Thelwell pulled one back for the B team, but Geoff Anderson sealed another win for Services C with his defeat of Tony Witter. George Brady gave the score respectability with his win over Tony Courtney.
Bottom club Electric pulled off a shock win at third-placed Wings. Mattie Lill and Rob Simpson got them off to a good start, beating Paul Coppock and Clive Formstone, but Russell Jones and Mark Jarvis pulled the scores level with wins over Graham Gilbert and Ian Trow.
Robbie Proudlock and Mark Griffiths then won for the visitors to give the shock result of the night.
The title race in the Chester City Transport Division is a close one with Snooker Centre getting nearer to promotion with a 4-2 win at Conservative B. Young Callum Murphy got basement club Cons off to a good start in their last match of the season. He had a good win over Pete Gerrard.
Dev Phang levelled for Snooker Centre but Mike Davies put Cons 2-1 up. Kevin Green, Chris Stone and Mark Hughes all won for Snooker Centre to give them victory.
Ian Beales, Dave Parry, Gareth Wynne and Ian Smith were prominent in Wings B's 4-2 win over St Saviour's A, but the highlight of this match was Roy Proctor's (Saviour's) 44 break in his win over Ray Turner.
Steve Barry was Saviour's other winner. Liberal A kept within three points of the leaders with their 4-2 win at Waverton
In the Supreme Cleaners Round-Robin Competition, Waverton had a good win at St Werburgh's with T Jones, J Stonely, T Stoddart and G Lightfoot all winning.
Liberal B also had a good result in this competition, holding champions Upton RBL D to a commendable draw. D Morgan, D Ankers and T Horne all won for the home side with J Banks, A Sutton-Thompson and J O'Boyle replying.
