A FESTIVE fight night dubbed ‘Young Guns III’ will see the cream of young Chester kickboxing talent face some of their toughest opponents to date.

On Sunday night, Chester Racecourse’s Winter Wonderland pavilion will become a battleground as Newtown’s John Henry McNamara challenges Steve Primrose, of Altrincham’s Beastmaster Gym, for the WKA British middleweight Muay Thai belt.

The Chester 18-year-old is fast building a reputation in the professional ranks after victories over domestic and European opposition this year.

But Sunday will be his biggest bout to date as he makes a bid for 26-year-old Primrose’s title in an extreme Muay Thai A class bout, which allows knee and elbow strikes to the head.

The show has been organised by world champion kickboxer Dave Newbrook’s Southpaw Promotions and the undercard is full of Christmas crackers.

Sharing top billing is John Henry’s team-mate from Newbrook’s Team Kaobon’s stable, British champion Greg Severs.

He faces one of Europe’s best, the Belarussian Alexander Crougan, in another A class rules fight at welterweight.

Four more Chester-based fighters will also fight on the bill.

Brothers Ashley and Danny Goodwin, from Blacon, are both in action with Ashley looking to take on one of the region’s top featherweights, while Danny is looking to make it two wins out of two after his debut knockout victory in June.

Steve Vickers, also from Blacon, is in action after a thrilling debut in September as he takes on tough Shrewsbury fighter Richard Perks at light heavyweight.

Tim Bougen, from Christleton, will be looking to make it a clean sweep of victories for the Chester-based fighters as he take’s on Wrexham’s Patrick Jarvis in his third ever bout.

Finally, Team Kaobon will be putting one of it’s female fighters in the ring as Jade Thomas, daughter of former Wrexham, Manchester United and Chelsea legend Mickey Thomas, dons her gloves.

Also in action will be Wrexham’s Will Killow, trained by former World Champion Russ Williams, against Manchester’s Jonno Chipchase in a WKA pro-am featherweight title fight.

Wrexham Thai Boxing Club has put forward Mark Evans, Patrick Jarvis and debutant Gareth Edwards for bouts.

Thomas Thai Boxing’s Matt Inskip of Holywell will also be matched up.
