MOTOR SPORT: ELLESMERE Port's queen of speed Jenny Tinmouth scorched to her best ever finish in the British 125GP Championship at Oulton Park on Monday.
The Pooltown Road-based racer finished 17th and might have done even better had this race not been called to an abrupt halt following a dramatic five-bike smash which left the surface of the Mid Cheshire track strewn with debris.
At the start of the day, hopes were not high for the 26-year-old as she started the race in a lowly 31st position on the grid following qualifying.
But from the moment the starter's flag lowered, Jenny was off to a flyer and by the end of lap one had swept past several experienced racers to climb to 20th place.
By lap six, Jenny had shot up into to 17th place with some classy riding and looked set for a possible top-10 finish, before the race was cut short after a five-bike pile-up.
