ICE HOCKEY: Flintshire Freeze know defeat in tomorrow's ENIHL Cup home clash with Billingham Bombers would all but end their interest in the competition.

Last Saturday's 6-1 loss at Sheffield Spartans has left the Deesiders with a real mountain to climb if they are to make the knock-out stages.

A day later they won 9-1 at Newcastle Vipers in ENIHL Northern Conference league combat. The victory took them up to fifth, but they have no chance of qualifying for the end-of-season play-offs, as the top four positions have already been sewn up.

But even if the Freeze fall to Billingham tomorrow, they still have a chance of adding some silverware to their trophy cabinet after the league confirmed the reintroduction of the M56 Cup - which will see Flintshire and old-foes Blackburn Hawks battle it out over two legs.

Tomorrow's action gets under way at 4.20pm at the Deeside Ice Rink.
