BEBINGTON had a mixed bag of results when they took part in the Wirral Cup.
The team, which is based at Sutton High, started badly in their first match against Neston, conceding two first-half goals. But captain Glen Costain shuffled his pack and within five minutes of the restart Bebington had pulled one back through a deflected short corner by Lee Dixon.
Dixon then completed his double to earn Bebington a 2-2 draw.
They next took on Oxton and comfortably won 2-1 thanks to goals from Phil Reid and Richie Little.
Finally, the weary Bebington side faced a strong Chester team. After going a goal up through Richie Little, Bebington's defence caved in and allowed Chester to win 3-1.
Bebington Ladies continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 home friendly win against Chester and District.
Excellent play from Jodie Darlington and Michelle Wildsmith in midfield kept the organised Chester defence on their toes. Bebington went in 1-0 up through Chloe Bates and, although Chester equalised, the Port side hit back through Chloe Bates and Shona Bates.
