CHESTER produced a thrilling comeback to stop the rot.

Chris Platts’ team were seemingly heading for a sixth straight defeat when they fell 4-1 behind in their North League Premier Division derby at home to Crewe Vagrants on Saturday – but they hit back to earn a 4-4 draw with an injury-time equaliser.

Chester 4ths (Andy Patterson, Richard Nicholas) conceded a controversial late leveller as they had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to Wilmslow 2nds in North West League Division Six South.

John Irving was the man of the match as Chester 5ths (Jim Doerr, Jon Feeney 2, Chris White) cemented second spot in Division Eight South with a 4-1 home victory over Bebington 5ths.

Chester 7ths (Luke Disley 2) extended their unbeaten Division 10 South run with a 2-2 draw at Crewe Vagrants 4ths.

Chester Ladies 2nds lost 2-1 at home to Cheshire Women’s League Division Two high flyers Macclesfield in spite of Claire Gledhill’s strike and a player-of-the-match performance from Siobhan Barnard.

Jess Egan (5), Franki Popescu (2) and new mum Laura Thombs fired Chester Ladies 4ths to an 8-4 home win over Sale 3rds in Division Six.

Improving Deeside Ramblers (James Wilson, Andrew Sieman 2), drew 3-3 at Olton & West Warwicks in National League Conference North on Sunday.

Ian Ward was the man of the match as Ramblers 2nds (Jack Hardman, Andy Stammers, Hedley Pollard 2) won 4-1 at Bowdon 3rds in North West League Division One on Saturday.

But it was a tough afternoon for the 3rds (Phil Johnson) as they went down 3-1 at home to Division Two leaders Oxton 2nds.

Deeside 4ths (Piers Fielding 3, Richard Jones, Pete Lawler) fared better, winning 5-2 at Bowdon 5ths to maintain their Division Six South title chase.

Ramblers 5ths showed why they lead the way in Division Seven South with a 7-1 home success over Bowdon 6ths in which Mark Goodyer hit a hat-trick and Nick Worrall bagged a brace, as the 7ths (Warwick Platt 3, Harry Butt, Jordan Brown, Keith Hindley, Miles Lewis, Jack Saunders) sent Oxton 7ths packing 8-3 in Division Nine South.
