WORLD champion boxer Ricky Hitman Hatton was a record breaking knockout for Witton Albion on Thursday.
Because of Hatton's presence Witton sold all 399 seats at £40 for each their sportsman's dinner at Winsford Civic Hall, thus grossing nearly £16,000 in ticket sales alone.
The figure makes the event the biggest of its kind ever staged in Mid Cheshire.
Organiser was club secretary Graham Edgeley who said: 'We made a lot of money and Ricky
was an excellent speaker, better than many people expected - articulate and a little blue. What is more he was a genuinely nice bloke.
'Getting one of the world's top sportsmen was a coup and I don't think we can top that. It was a fantastic night.'
Albion hope to stick with boxing for their next dinner by booking former world super-middleweight champ Steve Collins, Chris Eubank's conqueror.
