CAPTAIN’S Day at Eaton Golf Club saw more than £1,000 raised for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

The generosity of club members meant Jack Mackinson’s day went with a swing.

Despite blustery conditions, the first five in the men’s competition came in with a score of 37 points.

A dinner for those taking part was held in the evening and, after various count-backs, the results were announced with David Weir taking home the Captain’s Prize. Neil Large was second, with Doug Mackay third, Neil Davies fourth and Alan Wood fifth.

The winning men’s team comprised Bernie Turner, Hefyn Griffiths and Mark McNamee, while the ladies team included Mary Henry, Paula Hague, Ailsa Smith and Margaret Hopkins.

Nick Welch was the junior competition winner.

Ruth Aitkenhead held her Lady Captain’s Day at Eaton last Wednesday, an event which drew in 87 entrants.

The competition was a team of three Stableford, with the two best scores to count. The winning team comprised: Judi Sunter, Hilary Watson and Pauline Wilson.

The Lady Captain’s charity this year is the Salvation Army and donations totalling £202.88 were collected on the day.

June was a busy month at Eaton, with members also turning out in force for Professional’s Day.

Lici Thomas won the ladies prize and Neil Davies took home the men’s.
