SWIMMING: LUCIE Tetley, Joanna Waterman and James Cowburn each won two gold medals at the first day of the Cheshire Championships at Stockport on Saturday.
They were among a record entry of 36 swimmers from Winsford ASC and as well as their six golds, the squad collected 11 silver and 10 bronze medals from 47 places in the finals.
Lucie won the ladies' breast stroke double, 50m and 100m, and was a silver medallist in the 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle.
Winsford new comer Joanna Waterman swam an impressive 39.96 and 81.71 seconds in a repeat of Lucie's breast stroke victories for 11-year-olds. She was only 0.2 seconds off a National Championship qualifying time over 100m.
James was triumphant in the 15-years' 100m freestyle and 200m individual medley, but in nqts, and he also won a 50m backstroke silver.
George White had four swims and came away with four silver medals, only just pipping teammate Alex Hay by 0.002 seconds in the 14 years' 50m 'fly.
Lydia Woodward took silver in the 12s' 50m breastroke and 'fly finals and bronze in the 200m backstroke.
Hannah Allen was runner-up in the ladies' 50m and 100m 'fly while bronze medals were won by Michael Almond, Lydia Woodward, Katherine Edgar, Ashley Walton, Alex Hay and Abbie Henderson. The Cheshires continue at the weekend at Macclesfield.
