LEADING polo players came to Chester for one of Britain's premier 12-goal tournaments.
The Flame Estates International, held at the Roodee, saw £10,000 awarded to the winning team - the largest sum to be awarded at any polo tournament in the country.
The Belgravia-sponsored team of Richard Thomas, Andrew Barlow, Ollie Taylor and Nico Fontanarossa won the final with a golden goal after a great game which saw them draw 8-8 with the Concept for Living-sponsored team of Dominic Barnes, Juan Cruz Guevara, brother Facundo Guevara and Guillermo Villanueva.
A jubilant Thomas, who is the chief executive of Chester Race Company, said: 'The tournament grows in popularity year on year, the atmosphere was fantastic and it was a bonus to be in the winning team!'
Other contenders knocked out earlier in the two-day tournament were Porsche of Chester and Heathcotes.
After the final, Flame Estates director Susan Flame awarded the Flame Estates International trophy and £10,000 to the winners. This is the third consecutive year that Chester-based property development and investment company Flame Estates has sponsored the tournament.
