THREE West Cheshire AC youngsters have secured county gold medals.
Bryony Archdeacon, Olivia Montez-Brown and Tessa McCormick combined to win the Cheshire Under 13 Girls Road Relay Championship, at Sefton Park, Liverpool.
The trio teamed up to finish seven seconds clear of Vale Royal, at the event which incorporated the North West Championships. Bryony completed the first leg in a time of 10 minutes 30 seconds to finish first for Cheshire and 11th overall in the North West event.
She handed the baton to Olivia who posted a time of 12:12 for the second leg to cross the line in second spot in the Cheshire event and 17th position in the North West contest. And Tessa wrapped up the gold medals for the trio with a blistering time of 9:49 on the third and final leg and secure 14th position in the North West Championship.
Carl van Schie finished in fourth position at the English Schools Combined Events Senior Boys Championships held at Exeter.
He represented Cheshire in the decathlon after qualifying from the North West event staged earlier in the year at Stoke’s Northwood Stadium.
His scores included a new long jump best of 6.39m on the first day, and he posted an equal best outdoor pole vault clearance of 3.40m on day two, as well as a new javelin best of 41.72m, and 1,500m best of 4:40.19.
Carl compiled 5,988 points which was just 29 points below his best of 6,017 achieved earlier this year.
Stephanie Owens celebrated a hat-trick of victories in a Throws Meeting at Wavertree, Liverpool. She won the hammer event with 45m, spun the discus to a winning mark of 36m and also produced a winning performance in the heavy weight event.
Fixtures this weekend include the Sutton Six 10k Road Race, at Guilden Sutton, near Chester, this Sunday.
The popular event is being hosted by West Cheshire AC and entries will be accepted on the day for the 10k and an accompanying fun run around the village.
Forthcoming fixtures include the fourth round of the Wirral Multi-Terrain League at Arrowe Park, Birkenhead, on Tuesday (7pm start).
The first round of the North Wales Cross Country League gets under way at Colwyn Bay on Saturday, September 29, the same day as the Great North Run, in Newcastle, while the Macclesfield Half Marathon and Flintshire 10k take place on Sunday, September 30.
