A GOAL from Craig Webb was enough for Grange Athletic to earn a point in Division Two on Saturday.

Webb was on target as Grange fought out a 1-1 draw with Helsby at West Cheshire College, Simon Page netting the visitors’ consolation.

Poulton Victoria Reserves were crowned worthy champions after they came from behind to beat Mallaby 2-1, while Capenhurst Villa’s fixture at Fairfield Athletic was postponed.

In Division One, Castrol Social are up to eighth after beating Upton AA 2-1. Tony Ashton and Simon Thelwell netted the goals ahead of Good Friday’s Pyke Cup final against Runcorn Town at Rivacre Park (11am).

Vauxhall Motors Reserves travelled to the Marine Park stronghold of leaders West Kirby and earned a 1-1 draw. Andy Barker netted for the reigning champions, but a Tommy Carroll effort clinched a deserved point.

Ellesmere Port had Nathan Mapletoft on the mark, but second-placed Runcorn had three-goal Will Dolan in top form in the 4-1 triumph.

In Division Three, Capenhurst Villa Reserves were indebted to goals from Ian Kelly, Jamie Johnson and Warren Lloyd for their 3-0 win against Hale.

Meanwhile a Simon Mapletoft effort counted for nothing as Ellesmere Port Reserves went down 2-1 at Shaftesbury.

Saturday’s Division One action sees Vauxhall Motors Reserves in action against Newton at Rivacre Park, while Ellesmere Port will be looking to get back to winning ways at the expense of Blacon YC.

Willaston look a good bet for maximum returns against Ashville Reserves in Division Two and, on current form, Capenhurst Villa Reserves are favourites to account for St Werburgh’s in Division Three.
