FISHING: ELLESMERE Port entrants set the pace in Lingmere Fishery's open matches last week, writes BRIAN ROBERTS.
Mike Flanaghan won their Thursday match with a mixed 53-8-0 to finish in front of Steve Balsom and Tommy Ward, both with 45-8-0.
Top in Saturday's match was Geoff Grantham, taking a carp-based 28-6-0 to lead over Gareth Jones with 27-8-0 and Mike Lomax on 26-10-0.
Rob Pitchford led the way in the Peg 1 AC match on the top pool of the Lloyds Meadow Fishery.
Taking mainly carp to the scales, he led over Stuart Duncan with carp for 13-5-0 and Colin Pitchford with 8-6-0 of carp.
Rod N'Reel's Mike Flanaghan finished runner-up in Wednesday's open match on the Hampton Springs Fishery.
Drawn on Rock Pool, Mike ended the day with mainly carp to put 59-14-0 on to the scales.
John Scudamore of Ellesmere Port was rewarded with a 9-1-0 rainbow trout at the Dearnford Hall Fishery at Whitchurch last week to a CDC sedge.
Steve Appleby lured an 8-2-0 rainbow at the same venue to a red epoxy buzzer.
Bill Jones of Ellesmere Port took a 4-8-0 rainbow to a buzzer when visiting the Meadow Fishery.
Burton Mere Fishery are running open matches each Wednesday, drawing at 1pm and fishing between 2-8pm. The cost is £16 all in. nHampton Springs Fishery are running evening matches on Wednesdays and Sundays, drawing at 4pm with fishing from 4.30pm until dark. The cost is £12 all in.
Heronbrook Fishery are now accepting entries for their Winter League Series starting in October.
