TABLE TENNIS: PULFORD A reached the next round of the Chester and District League's Handicap Cup by beating Gwersyllt by eight points and now meet Manweb.
Barrow A beat Hoole by 28 points to earn a match against Barrow B or Barrow D. The rest of the draw features County Officers C v Barrow or County Officers B and Barrow C v Tarporley or County Officers A.
In the first division, Gwersyllt had to work hard to get a draw against Hoole, Peter Betham winning his three games, while Stuart Williams and Adam Newton won two each for Hoole.
Pulford B had an excellent match against County Officers A, half of the games going to five sets. Officers won 7-3, Keith Roper winning his three singles.
Hoole A went down 7-3 to Barrow B in the second division with Alec Taylor winning his maximum for Barrow, while Barrow A beat County Officers B 7-3, veteran Wally Hill winning his three games and inflicting a rare defeat on Ian Barlow, who has lost only three games this season, both to the same player.
In a rearranged game, Tarporley fought out a 5-5 draw with County Officers B and again Barlow won three for the Officers. Steve Wright won two for Tarporley.
In the third division, Pulford C were no match for Barrow E who won 9-1, Bill Jones providing Pulford's consolation.
Saughall inflicted a similar defeat on Barrow D who were a man short. Chris Dodd was the Barrow winner.
