MARTIAL ARTS: STUDENTS from the Crewe Global Tae Kwon-do International Club have proved themselves class acts at two major championships.
Tristan Smith won gold in the black belt heavyweight men's sparring section of the Midland Open Championships and followed up with a silver in the British Championships.
GTI colleagues Chris Hill and Ben Shenton earned silvers at the Midland Championships, with Hill finishing runner-up in the blue and red belt patterns and Shenton in the red belt lightweight junior sparring.
Club instructor Andy Taylor had two other successes to celebrate in the British Championships, with Adam Turner earning silver in the blue and red belt light heavyweight junior sparring category and Neil Duncalf winning bronze in the men's yellow belt heavyweight sparring.
The club, which is now nine years old, trains at the Oakley Centre, Crewe, on Mondays and Wednesdays and offers coaching to children and adults.
