WEST Cheshire AC's juniors have secured a fistful of medals and two team titles.

Members claimed victories in the under 13 and U15 boys team events at the North West Sportshall League Finals held at Wigan's Robin Park Arena.

Joseph O'Riordan, Sam Pierre-Louis, Stephen Jones, Chris Goodwin and Sam Rimmer combined for the U13 boys squad.

O'Riordan and Jones collected the gold and silver medals respectively in the four-lap time trial, and O'Riordan added a gold in the speed bounce while Jones earned a silver in the standing long jump.

Goodwin clinched a silver in the six-lap time trial and a bronze in the vertical jump, and Pierre-Louis won a bronze in the two-lap final.

The quartet of Rimmer, O'Riordan, Pierre-Louis and Jones captured gold medals in the 4x2-lap relay.

Michael Lyness, Aidan Stoakley, Tom Booth, Matthew Pratt and Alex Haswell teamed up to earn the U15 boys top spot.

Lyness won the standing triple jump, and he added a silver from the six-lap time trial and a bronze from the shot event.

Haswell grabbed a silver in the four-lap time trial and a bronze from the six-lap time trial, while Stoakley finished with a silver from the speed bounce.

The quartet of Lyness, Booth, Pratt and Stoakley teamed up to earn gold medals in the 4x2-lap relay.

West Cheshire's U13 girls finished second in the team competition, while the U15 girls finished seventh.

The club's U11 boys finished runners-up in their team competition, and the U11 girls squad finished seventh. n West Cheshire's Tom Booth finished fourth in the North of England Indoor U15 Boys Pentathlon Champion-ships at Sport City, Manchester, and sixth overall, with 1,899 points.

He long-jumped a new best of 4.51m, posted a new 60m hurdles best of 9.96 seconds, cleared a new high jump best of 1.44m, hit 6.97m in the shot and rounded 800m in a new best time of two minutes 23 seconds.

* Six West Cheshire AC youngsters will represent Cheshire at the English Schools' Cross-Country Championships at Leeds. James Ellis, Bradley Edwards, Nienke Vermer, Jelle Vermer, Kate Titlow and Charlotte Roach will compete at the event to be held at the 1,500-acre Temple Newsam Country Park.

* Fixtures this weekend include the British Masters Cross-Country Champion-ships in Mansfield tomorrow and the Manchester Indoor Open at Sport City on Sunday.

There are half-marathons at Liverpool, Wilmslow and Stafford, also on Sunday.
