PAUL Economides is getting ready for the biggest bout of his burgeoning career.
The 22-year-old, who trains at Chester Boxers in Hoole, will fight on the undercard of next Friday’s Sky Sports-televised IBO welterweight title battle between Lovemore N'dou and Matthew Hatton at the Fenton Manor Sports Complex.
The Stoke event is being promoted by British boxing legend Ricky Hatton – older brother of Matthew – and Economides has been paired with another rising super bantamweight star boasting an undefeated record in Stephen R Russell.
The 21-year-old Scotsman has won his first six fights since turning pro, which is one less than his confident opponent.
Economides, who lives in Connah’s Quay, said: “The fight is being billed as ‘someone’s ‘O’ has got to go’ and I’ll be doing everything I can to make sure it’s not mine.
“It’s going to be a big step for both of us and it’s the first we will be fighting six three-minute rounds, but I am ready.”
Tickets for the event, which takes place on Friday, November 13, are available by calling Economides on 07789256640 or Chester Boxers on 01244 342012, costing £30, £50 or £85 for ringside.
