JEFF McQueen steered West Cheshire AC to third place at the sixth round of the Borders Road Running League in Prestatyn.
Continuing his impressive form for the Ellesmere Port-based club, Jeff secured 13th position with a time of 28 minutes 48 seconds for the five-mile course.
He was backed up by Andy Starkey who negotiated the seaside route in 29:48 for 22nd position, ahead of Andrew Clague (41st, 31:10), Max Woods (76th, 33:22), Paul Price (94th, 34:45), Dave Tiernan (153rd, 37:42) and Tony Thackray (225th, 51:00).
Sacha Kendall-Woods helped maintain West Cheshire AC ladies’ interest in promotion from Division Two.
She covered the Prestatyn course in a time of 40:22 to finish fourth in the over-35 women’s age category, 38th lady, and 188th overall.
Julie Wood was next home (49th lady, 195th overall, 41:47), and third team counter Lisa Ayling finished seventh in the over-35s, 55th lady and 204th overall in 43:23.
Other West Cheshire women in action at Prestatyn included Kath Osbourne, second in the over-60s and 213th overall (45:05), Angela Cook, 57th lady and 217th overall (45:23) and Lesley Billingsley, who finished eighth in the over-40 age group and 221st overall with a time of 47:56.
The next round of the Borders Road Running League takes place at Deestriders on Wednesday, April 28.
Entries are now being accepted for the Cheshire AA County Track and Field Championships, being held at Macclesfield, on Saturday, May 8 and Sunday, May 9.
Entries close on April 21 and forms are available from the West Cheshire AC track office at Stanney Oaks, Ellesmere Port, on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 6.30pm-8pm.
Forthcoming road racing fixtures for the diary include: April 18 – Whitley 10K (Whitley, Warrington); 24 – North Wales 10 miles Championship (Wrexham); 25 – London Marathon, South Cheshire 20 miles road race (Crewe), 28 – Borders Road League (Deestriders), 29 – Mow Cop Killer Mile.
May 7 – Christleton 5K; 8 – Salford 5K; 9 – Women’s 5K and 10K (Liverpool); 16 – Chester Half Marathon, 20 – Mobberley 5.3m, 28 – Dunham Massey 5K, 30 – Mersey Tunnel 10K, 31 – Mynydd Myfyr Hill Run (Trefonen, Oswestry).
Fixtures this weekend include the Liverpool Throws and Jumps Meeting at Wavertree on Saturday.
West Cheshire AC open their Cheshire Track and Field League campaign at Bebington Oval, on Sunday (1pm start).
