MARTIAL ARTS: THE World Kobudo Martial Arts Centre in Runcorn welcomed a globe-trotting master of ju-jitsu to a successful multi-style martial arts course.
Senior instructor for the seminar, which attracted exponents from throughout the UK, was the highly-respected and ranked Soke Richard Morris.
With more than half a century of experience, he is world-renowned for his friendly but no-nonsense approach to ju-jitsu.
'We were very lucky to have Soke Morris attend this event as he is usually out of the country every weekend, teaching his style of ju-jitsu all over the world,' said course organiser Renshi David Hughes.
'It was a great honour for all who participated to meet and train with such a legend within the martial arts.'
Four instructors in all took turns in demonstrating and teaching techniques from their chosen art.
Soke Morris taught advanced jujitsu; Renshi David Hughes taught ju-jitsu and grappling techniques; Master Den Jones taught the explosive and dynamic techniques of tae kwon-do and, finally, Sifu Tim George coached techniques from the eclectic and highly-effective system of sport, kung-fu.
Master Jones and Sifu George are both highly-respected instructors and competitors in their own right and both acknowledged the efforts and open-minded approach of all participants.
All those on the course were presented with a certificate of attendance and were given the chance of a photo opportunity with all the instructors.
They each showed keen interest in returning to the centre for next year's course and were congratulated by Soke Morris for their dedication in supporting this event.
