THE Piper AC match at Whitchurch’s Pool Lodge Fishery was a White-wash as one family dominated.

Rob White took carp to win the match with 8-11-0, Michael White submitted 8-4-0 of tench and carp for second and Phil White was third with 7-15-0 of carp.

Chester’s Phil Hardman netted a double at the weekend. First he won the Connah’s Quay AS match at Leeswood Fishery’s lake of tranquility on Sunday with 18-6-0 of carp. Then he entered the open match on Hampton Springs Fishery’s long island pool on Bank Holiday Monday, where he took a carp-based catch of 41-2-0.

Simon Powell was top rod in Manley AC’s match at Manley Springs Fishery. He pulled out carp weighing 19-4-0 in total to beat Eddy Day’s 14-10-0 and Rolf Perviss’ 9-12-0.

Craig Swain carried off first prize in the Thursday match at Lingmere Fishery. His mixed bag weighed 32-1-0, more than Steve Openshaw (28-6-0) and James DeClouet (17-6-0).

Lingmere’s Saturday match belonged to Dave Woodworth with carp weighing 22-4-0, defeating Joe Alton with a mixed 18-8-0 and Geoff Barker with 18-4-0.

Mark Pleavin tipped the scales with his 50-8-0 in the Tuesday Rovers AC match. The carp haul saw off Les Picken with likewise for 44-13-0. Chris Diamond occupied third with 31-8-0.

Chester Tackle Locker’s recent high standards dipped again as they finished ninth in the final match of the Stapeley, Crewe and District Winter League, held on the Shropshire Union Canal in Nantwich. The result left them sixth in the league. Gordon Griffiths was Locker’s best angler with 1-5-8, Wayne Jevons followed with 1-4-4 and Chris Morris took 1-2-2.

Jamie Hughes tipped the scales with 76-7-0 of carp but still only came second in the Hampton Springs Fishery Bank Holiday Monday match.

Steve Boyd was third with 74-10-0 of carp. Section winners included Gary Bough with 51-10-0, Steve Openshaw with 38-0-0 and Peter Price with 28-14-0.


Meadow: Paul Fear from Chester lured a 4-4-0 rainbow to a black spider.

Grove: Jamie Edwork coaxed a 27-6-0 mirror carp to a Pepperami bait.
