MARK Greasley had a superb match in last Tuesday’s Over 50s Cost-Cutter at Hampton Springs.
The Ellesmere Port ace blew the field away with a stunning 107lbs 2oz of big carp between 5lbs and 11lbs.
Greasley found the fish in his swim using meat fished shallow from peg 10 on Rock Pool.
Fellow Port match angler Rob Denny also impressed at Hampton with a great win in Sunday’s Open. After drawing peg 37 on Long Island, Denny bagged a brilliant 92lbs 14oz of carp for the win in a match that provided plenty of good carp.
Most of the Port angler’s fish, weighing up to 8lbs, came to the net from the margins having fed on corn and pellet.
Members of Rivacre AC travelled to Shrewsbury to compete at Spring Lea Fishery. Top rod was Ian Simpson with some lovely 4-5lbs carp as well as aide. He made good use of pellet on the pole bagging a total of 57lbs 8oz.
Geoff Grantham (43lbs 12oz), from Ellesmere Port, bagged an excellent 10lbs mirror carp to add to other carp and aide for second place.
Saturday’s Ellesmere Port AC match was staged at Border Fisheries on the Match Lake. Mike Roberts netted 51lbs, more than doubling the total of the next best angler Ian Mayers, from Northwich.
Fishing the method feeder, Roberts caught steadily all day bringing a number of good carp to the net.
