WAVERTON Bees ripped up the form book to beat previously unbeaten Chester & District Junior League Under 14s Division Two pacesetters Upton 7-4 on Sunday.

The hosts were the firm underdogs for the top-versus-bottom clash, but with the man of the match James Cope (5) and Connor McGovern-Scott (2) in unplayable form, they powered to their first victory of the campaign.

Upton’s maiden defeat was good news for Hope Farm Rangers, who moved within a point of the leaders with a 2-1 triumph at Westminster Park Lions given to them by goals in the first five minutes of the game from Jamie Maddocks and David Osbourne.

MoM Harry Davies prevented Hope from adding to their tally with a top-class goalkeeping display, before Luke Walker turned in Joseph Speed’s long throw to set up a nervy finish in which Chris McCartney and Callum Price came close to snatching a point for the courageous Lions.

Chester Nomads Colts moved above JFC Boughton and into second in Division One with a 5-0 victory.

MoM Sam Gareth (2), Charlie Derbyshire, Tom Rose and Adam Thomson struck for the visitors.

Craig Graham was the MoM as Chester Nomads (Sean Crawshaw 3, Cameron Black 2, Ollie Wright) won 6-2 at Princes Villa, but Vicars Cross Dynamos (MoM Kieran Carney, Joe Wainwright) lost 4-2 at home to Groves Athletic.
